'Happiness'
Ok. So *technically* my title isn't what the lyrics actually say. So bite me. I've been on an Arashi kick for days... XD
It's been a pretty darn good day actually, and the first Tuesday since I started uni that I haven't felt completely worn out from rushing around. The reason for this, of course, that I only had 4 hours - and not straight through. So good.
I had Asian Studies first up, and it was the one lecture we're having on Southeast Asia. So it was good, but doing a whole semester of that subject just for that? Not really worth it =P
Ah well.
Afterwards I met up and had coffee with V, a girl from my tutes of that class. An hour full of giggly chit chat, particularly about the guy she finds insanely attractive in our lecture. I must say, I totally agree now he got a haircut. Just saying. But I did chuckle silently to myself when I walked in and saw that he'd sat down with her in the lecture XD
So then it was off to Indonesian I went. Dear god, I adore that class. And M's back!!! Poor thing had tonsilitis, and was then allergic to the antibiotics. But she's all better now, and I forgot how much more awesome she makes it. Today, we had to write examples of 'deklamasi' - ie a type of poetry. Ours was so epic, but I don't have it to put here. It was something along the lines of:
This dark day
My heart is sad
Your voice is harsh, loud
My heart weeps.
The example we were given was so soppy, so we decided just to do something really dark. The reactions were pretty amusing. We had to present them as if we were doing a dramatic retelling. I could hardly keep a straight face, because M is so brilliant at that kind of thing.
The next Indo class was spent realising just how cynical of wealth our teacher is. Goodness it was amusing - but understandable. I mean, growing up in Indonesia would give you that kind of attitude.
Then it was off to ethnomusicology, and being bored as always. Afterwards, though, I had a rather epic d&m with the other M (need to work out better nicknames lol) about how we're going to fit in having kids as well as a music career. So random. But I like random, so it's all good.
Actually, that's a very good thing as F just decides she's going to play the flute. Today. And played a wonky version that jumped octaves, but she was so proud XD
That was it for the day, but I am pleased to note that I am not all that stressed about exams now.
Mainly because:
We're doing the Indonesian oral in pairs, that we get to choose
The theory exam is ridiculously easy
The ethnomusicology one is decent, not so easy as to be frustrating but not too difficult either
I should be able to get by with a little study for music history.
The Indonesian written exam and the Asian Studies ones are far enough away that I still have plenty of time. As well as my recital.
Aural, well, let's just say I'm ignoring the stress associated with that for the moment.
I do need to start studying properly though ... soon. XD
I was going to put a list of what I need to do here, but I think that's long enough for one post. Maybe when I'm trying to kill time tomorrow =P
