And this is why I do what I do...
I love my muso friends dearly.
This morning I headed off to P's house (the girl who got me the Sound of Music gig) so she could help me out with the technical work for second year. She's so lovely, and was so helpful. I've borrowed her book of the exercises I have to do, and she offered me a loan of any music I need that she happens to have. There are also now two books by Simon Fischer on practice techniques and violin techniques in general that I really want. They're expensive though - about $100. They really look worth it though. She called them her 'violin bible'.
I also now have another musical I really really really want to see 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change' as it sounds hilarious.
She also recommended me some pieces, one of which that I am listening to now and have already fallen in love with. Definitely going to have a look at this one. So pretty <3
I will probably end up posting more of the pieces as I listen to them. Ooh I am definitely going to get out my old Heifetz Porgy and Bess arrangements and play Summertime. Just for fun =D
This morning included an example of the weird coincidental timing that my life it often displays. I was chatting to P and asking how to start off in the music teaching world - I want a teaching job but have no idea how to go about getting one. I haven't had much official experience, but I've done enough to know that I am a natural teacher. So I've been told as well. Anyway, we were talking about that and then I end up checking my phone... It turns out that a music school near uni had called me and asked me to come in for an interview!! So I now have my first proper job interview ever on Monday morning. My friend from my old uni had given them my number. Yay for muso connections. Exciting!
So as a result of all of the above, I am now excited for uni this year for the first time. Well, to be specific, violin at uni this year.
Oh and in other exciting news, I get to see Washington live again next week!! Along with Dan Sultan and Missy Higgins. There is a benefit concert on for the floods in Queensland and the line up is incredible. It wasn't that expensive either, and as it's a fundraiser I wouldn't have minded if it did cost more. It sold out in a day, so it was lucky I was looking at the right time! And that
snuggle_monster and
thalia03 were all online at that point to organise it.
I also just bought tickets to go see the Jezabels with snuggle_monster in April. Example of freaky timing no. 2: The date of the concert is the 6th of April, almost a year after we went and saw Newton Faulkner. Which is what we bonded over initially in the early days of our friendship. XD Crazy huh?
And now I will leave off here with the meme, while I finish this pasta that I made because I really needed good, healthy food! It's delicious, if I do say so myself.
DAY01: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
DAY02: Nine things about yourself.
DAY03: Eight ways to win your heart.
DAY04: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
DAY05: Six things you wish you’d never done.
DAY06: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever).
DAY07: Four turn offs.
DAY08: Three turn ons.
DAY09: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.

Pretty simple explanation of that: my life is based around my violin and my music, and it makes me crazy and confused a lot of the time.

And that one because my friends are my life, and I am a lover of childrens characters and movies =P
DAY10: One confession.
Enough now.
