Far out I'm tired. I'm sitting here, watching Packed to the Rafters, and doing my best to focus on anything.
I even got a decent night's sleep and everything (9 hours) - my body has just realised how little sleep I've had for the past week and is crashing. Pity I can't just collapse as I have work to do.
Edit: that was now nearly 2 hours ago.
Not going to outline my day totally, but just a few random things asusual they all say
Number one:
I adore Washington's cd. She writes such damn catchy riffs that get stuck in my head for ages. I keep changing my mind as to what's my favourite track - a sure sign that it's an awesome album. *bounces* OMG I'M GOING TO HER CONCERT! Ahem, excuse me.
Number two:
Bitching with
snuggle_monster (formerly known as F) is brilliant and soul-cleansing. As her lj username may suggest, her hugs are also amazing.
Number three:
I walked into orchestra today and checked the seating plan, expecting to be up the back of the 2nds again - instead I saw I was listed under the viola heading. My thoughts in order:
- mistake?
- I don't have a viola
- I've never played a viola
- Shit I can't read alto clef
- This concert is 1) huge (there are 4 separate pieces) and 2) just over a month away
So as I didn't have any form of the instrument I was supposedly playing, I went to go see one of the heads of strings to find out what was going on/what to do. Her words 'You can blame [name of other head of strings] for that one - he thinks you should do it this semester. He said he was going to talk to you about it. *notes blank look on my face* ... Evidently he didn't'
Oh the organisational skills of universities.
Anyway, I get to play on ashitty uni instrument and learn by being thrown in the deep end. Wish me luck, I will probably need it.
Number four (closely tied to 3):
There are certainly some awesome people in this uni of mine. A guy from Gamelan, a violist who is studying arts, offered to help me out after class on Thursday. This is also the guy who (barely knowing me) gave me a massive hug before class yesterday when I told him how shocking my day/week had been.
He probably doesn't know what a difference that made to my day. Yay for people who actually care.
Number five:
Ame is using the uni's file-sharing program to give me things like Scrubs, Lord of the Rings, Glee and some others. Distractions, here I come!
Number six:
I am going to go see Inception with
a_new_divide on Saturday! Pumped, because I want to see that movie, and also because we haven't done anything outside work for a while.
Number seven:
It's only week 3 and I'm trying to work out which classes I can skip, and planning on doing an assignment due on Thursday tomorrow ...
And I do believe that's enough.
