She apparently randomly speaks in third person.

I am pretty dead at the moment. I got home from orchestra camp/retreat/rehearsal thingy at about 6pm tonight, it's now 10pm and I've spent my night vegging on tumblr and such. Feels good just to do something brainless.
The camp was about an hour and a half from my house, up in a small town with no phone reception as I learned the hard way. Which was vaguely annoying, actually, because on Friday night I found out that my grandma had collapsed and was in hospital with heart troubles and I promptly had to leave somewhere where my parents couldn't contact me easily if something happened. She's fine right now, but will probably need a pacemaker.
Anyway, I was a little worried about this camp because I'm not exactly the best of friends with the people I know in orchestra. I get along with them okay in small doses, but not to the point where I can just chat about anything and everything. Mostly we were too busy with rehearsal to have much time to hang out, but last night I just curled up with my book in bed rather than socialise. I regret nothing.
Speaking of rehearsals, it was 12 hours over the two days. We are doing much better than we have been, but this concert is in two weeks. That's it. Next week is going to be insane... I think I counted something like 16 hours of rehearsal spread over the week? EEK. But we'll need it so...

Random aside: because of car trouble (oil leaks yay) I took Mum's car and can I say her car is SO NICE TO DRIVE. I like my car, I liked my old car, but this was just something else. I did get a little sad when I realised that meant no ipod, but I just burnt the playlist I made on Friday (more on that later) and so it was all good.

Apart from that my week has been just me chilling at home, buying uni books, BUYING A VIOLA (that's right, I has one), and hanging out with snuggle_monster - and ending up skyping pebblegosling and just generally being silly. Until I realised that we'd probably wake my family up/piss them off if we kept going.
I finally booked my appointment to get my wisdom teeth checked out (after a year... oops), have organised my lessons for this semester (need to pick some pieces), am going to have Alexander Technique lessons too and have booked one, agreed to learn guitar in exchange for piano lessons for snuggle_monster so I now have a guitar sitting in my room too. I know I'm a muso when the highlights of my week involved buying/borrowing instruments and the promise of learning them.

Lastly, I've been meaning to make a mix of music for my manager at work because I am slowly converting her to my music one artist at a time (Adele, Washington, and Christina Perri were the success stories - passing her 'car test' of being played on repeat when she drives for multiple weeks) and so on Friday afternoon I got around to that. I ended up thinking of it as 'Lauren's music 101' and so I thought that some of you might be interested. It is long, and I do not blame you if you skip past this - but I am going to make a playlist on youtube and link it at the end. Listen in order if you are going to check it out, I worked on that for a while.
This is what I listened to on the way up to the camp. It ranges from favourite artists I've been listening to for a while, to an album I bought last week, but I think it sums up my taste in music pretty well (apart from the distinct lack of classical music and . Also, they are not necessarily my favourite songs by each artist, and there are some favourite artists left off. I was atttempting, for once, to make a cohesive playlist.

Enjoy.

PS. I just found this youtube channel that is all hd recordings of live shows in Australia. Including the Sydney show of the Jezabels gig I went to in April. *flails*

That sucks that you didn't have reception out there, especially after hearing the news about your grandma. I'm glad she's ok, though! I hope the pacemaker operation will be an easy one with a short recovery.

Are your wisdom teeth bothering you? With any luck they'll say they're fine and you won't need them out!

Breathe Me! <3 I really like that song. Re:#24 Have you heard the hip hop song that samples part of that track? Sort of? I'm not sure if I'm using the right term since it's not her singing, but you can tell it's from that song.

I eventually got like, one bar and could shoot off a text to mum and got one back - it came in waves thank goodness.
Me too. <3

They aren't at all, which is why I'm not in any hurry to get them out. I'll see what happens...

I have heard it. Every time I do, I go 'AH AWESOME MUSIC ON RADIO... wait... damn it' XD

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma :( It's good that she's okay though. <3

Mostly we were too busy with rehearsal to have much time to hang out, but last night I just curled up with my book in bed rather than socialise. I regret nothing.

Ha! Good girl, come join the dark side and be antisocial with us introverts! :P

YAY, you haz a viola! It amuses me no end that you and snuggle_monster 'traded' lessons/instruments. Only musos, huh? :D

Yep, that's a long list.
*grin* Why am I not surprised it's the string version of King of Anything? Also, Fleet Foxes are awesome. And that reminds me of this:

Thanks hun <3

*laughs* I am an extrovert, but I'm not necessarily outgoing. It's thanks to Janna I now know the difference :P

Heh well it makes sense! We both want to learn the others' instrument, and we are poor student so have no spare cash to do so. So trade! :D

THAT VERSION IS AWESOME AND I NEVER KNEW IT EXISTED UNTIL LAST WEEK.

Oh you must let me hear you playing the viola! I would love to hear you play. Wow that is a cool play list some I don't recognise and I am going to listen to them later on!

Again, very glad to hear your grandma is okay and it didn't end up being anything more serious <3

CAMPCAMPCAMP. Ugh to 12 hours of rehearsals though...
I always forget how many problems wisdom teeth cause for peeps our age. (I'm missing all my wisdom teeth and two of my 12 year old molars. Yay! (I think?))

Guitar/piano lesson are going to be bitchin'.

That be a rather good playlist. Rather.
hmmm some of those songs look a little familiar :D

<3

IT was a little draining...
Ugh. this is why I've been putting it off. It's like 'oh hey these could cause problems so you can have full on surgery to take them out' ... BUT THEY AREN'T CAUSING ME PROBLEMS YET

=D
I wonder why
